    Spiral Stairs in Downley House

Video Credit: Homebuilding & Renovating

This contemporary style self-build project pushes the boundaries of house design and engineering to the max.

The owner, who managed the project very closely in order to ensure the bespoke details were just right, is closely involved with the wine industry — hence the astonishing (wine) barrel roof ‘foudre’ dining hall.

The construction utilises cross-laminated timber and glulam to great effect.

Canal Architectural were commissioned through a designer to fabricate and install the timber and glass spiral staircases, along with the interior glass balustrade and exterior straight, industrial looking, staircase.
