The cantilever staircase has grown in popularity among architects, designers and home owners alike. Sculptural and architectural in nature. The ‘floating’ staircase is also adaptable for many environments. The secret to this staircase’s success is in the hidden metalwork in the wall.
The first fix involved mechanically fixing a structural steel stringer to the wall with protruding, welded cantilever steel channels.
To achieve a seamless floating illusion the installation team plaster the wall to completely hide the steel work. Secondly Canal sleeve beautiful timber box treads over the steel cantilever channels.
The finishing touches included stainless steel bosses, connecting the low iron glass balustrade to the treads as well as the first floor landing.
In addition a satin polished stainless steel handrails slots onto the glass balustrades and continues onto the first floor.
The benefits of a cantilever staircases is how it transforms the essence of space. The open risers enhances natural light flow within any environment whilst creating light and airy feel within any room.
There are a wide range of materials available for a cantilever staircase. Canal will work with you and your architect to turn your concept into a reality as well as meeting your exact specifications and requirements.
