One Canada Square

PROJECT NAME:
ONE CANADA SQUARE
STAIR MATERIALS:
MILD STEEL & TIMBER

Canal Architectural were approached to supply and fit a bespoke feature steel staircase for One Canada Square in Canary Wharf.

The client requested a feature staircase to match the internal surrounding finishes of the iconic 50 floor tower. The Canal technical sales team worked closely with De Metz Forbes Knight Architects Limited to design a feature staircase from 7th to the 9th floor. The design consisted of twin spine stringers, open risers and 20mm spindles. The staircase incorporated stained sapele timber treads with carbon nosing strips for a rich design finish. The Canal project management team worked alongside main contractor Parkeray to site spray all steelwork to the highest specification. Canal were tasked to integrate this staircase within very tight constraints which involved working closely with the fire curtain contractors.

The in house team at Canal worked closely to ensure smooth delivery and fitting of the staircase, working in compliance with the latest building regulations.
