Over the last 20 years, Canal Architectural have specialised in the design and fabrication of bespoke staircases at their manufacturing facility in Nottingham, UK.
The ethos has always been to push the boundaries of what is technically possible through design and material choice, while complying with building regulations in the most cost effective manner.
In practice this means offering a bespoke service in which feature designs are harvested from an initial concept or specification by the dedicated Canal specialists.
Using the latest 3D CAD technology and producing full production drawings in-house for manufacturing, Canal can fabricate bespoke staircases in straight, spiral and helical form.
Canal install bespoke staircases for both residential and commercial properties, throughout the UK and abroad.
Each environment carries different requirements and these are crafted into each design from the start, creating a practical staircase without compromising on design.
All staircases are designed to comply with BS5395: Part 2, 1984 (spiral and helical staircases) and Building Regulations: Approved Document K (straight flight stairs).
Canal Architectural can also provide thermoplastic polymer alloy coating, conforming to UK Building Regulations (2000), Access to and Use of Buildings, Parts M1 and M2 which stipulates that handrails need to be slip resistant and not cold to the touch.
