Throughout history spiral staircases were built for many reasons, such as in medieval times spiral staircases were built often within castles to reach the top of the tower.

St John’s Wood, London
This spiral staircase and luxury London apartment was a match made in heaven. The dark stained oak timber treads naturally matched the interior of the property. Whilst satin polished central column and curved handrail tied in the contemporary finish alongside the glass panels.
This spiral stair adds a sense of mystery within the apartment as no clue reveals as to what is upstairs until you walk up.
Spiral staircases do not have to specifically be designed for small spaces or just within residential properties. Republic, Leeds is the perfect example of this, Canal was challenged to fabricate a large spiral staircase of 12 meters tall over three levels!
Timber treads and landings had anti slip inserts where installed to increase safety underfoot within store. In addition, the underside was painted white including the central column giving the store the freedom to add directions or notes to customers.
Mole Hill, London
This London home required a stylish external spiral staircase that naturally complemented the house and landscape to make a lasting impression. Simple clear lines were the success to this sweeping spiral staircase, a slotted stainless steel handrail on top of 15mm toughened glass panels was all the detail needed for this outdoor spiral stair.
